Woke up after a bit of a sleep in.
fed the birds
had a lovey breakfast
Sunscreen still applied diligently every day... pale Canadian skin here.
Diane came down and we all went to the Beach at the Inn. I do not know what we would do without the lovely pool at the Inn. The inn is all time shares but you can rent off of the owners if you want. I might do that one year.
A bite of guacamole and then a small drink or two at happy hour. I think I am starting to get a tan. A relaxing afternoon was had by all.
after a refreshing swim in the pool we went home and got chased to go out for dinner. The restaurant that we choose was actually not that good. lt was traditional Mexican food that the Mexicans would have at home and although it was tasty enough I do not think that I would go back there.
We had planned to go out for the evening to walk the malecon and see the set up for the parade. The city had been busy making all kinds of preparations. They even fixed the fountain at our end of the Malecon.
Carnaval is a big deal in Mazatlan and the Parade is one of the really big deals of Carnaval. People stake out their areas on the malecon days in advance so that they have chairs and tables and are ready for the event.
The Malecon is decorated wth many large temporary Carnaval statues every year and every year the theme changes. This year it was a circus. We walked down for quite a ways but not the whole ten miles of course, maybe half a mile and then we walked back. there were lots of food carts out but we did not eat there.
We ended up at Lucky Bastards where we had a drink and watched some fire brandishing baton twirlers who were very good.
then we wandered down the road and stopped in at the 28 - veintocho bar with the most excellent singer. Her voice was excellent but her grasp of all the words in English was not quite perfect so some of her songs seemed a little off, but her voice was excellent.
had a fw beer there and then continued on home in the dark of night. walked Diane home to her apartment and then home again to ten thousand on the patio. it was such a lovely night.
